Attraction Marketing #10 – Your Social Media Foundation

Here’s a checklist of what you should have set up so far:

1) Get a domain name – YourName.com, for example
2) Host your domain
3) Pick a theme (free is ok) and install it on your blog

If you don’t have a domain name or host yet, go here to check out mine:

My Web Host

I have all of my domains hosted with GVO. Joel Therien and his team are marketers and they’ve set their company up to benefit marketers because they understand what we need to be successful online. I highly recommend them. You can find all the reasons why at the link above.

If you’re interested in the training they offer to their customers, go here:

If you’re branding your name, all of your social accounts should have your full name as the username. As always, sometimes it’s better to do something different. You don’t have to brand your name to be successful.

4)   Facebook
5)   Twitter
6)   Better Networker
7)   YouTube
8)   Linked In
9)   Squidoo
10) MySpace

Yeah, I know. MySpace is dead. That’s ok, set it up anyway. You don’t have to be there all the time, you just want to catch those prospects who like to use MySpace.

This list is in no particular order, but you should have all of them. Set up these accounts before you start to market anything. You’ll be linking and cross-linking between these sites and that’s what will get you the exposure you’re after.

Don’t worry about doing all the typing for your profiles. The strategy here is to set up your Squidoo “About Me” page as the place people go to learn about you. Your whole life story and personal stuff. You can put a few sentences on the other sites about yourself, but the main thing is to get them to go to Squidoo and see your page there.

You’ll also have an “About Me” page on your blog. It should be different than what you have on Squidoo. Use Squidoo to be more personal. The one on your blog should focus more about what you’ve done in your business life.

By the way, you don’t have to call your “About Me” page “About Me”. Call it anything you like. Maybe “The 411 on Bob”, or something like that. Anything that tells people what they’re gonna get on that page that fits your personality is fine. In fact, it’ll help you stand out more to put your personality into everything you do.

That’s enough strategy for today. Just make sure you have all of these accounts set up before you start marketing. I know it seems tedious and time-consuming, but building your foundation is incredibly important. Just do it. Do it NOW.

In Attraction Marketing #11, we’ll start talking about how these sites link to each other and work together to turn you into an internet Rockstar.
