We’ve touched on basic strategy and overview in the first 2 articles, and I want to talk a little more about the first steps you should take. You see, SEO, or Search Engine Optimization, doesn’t have to be difficult, though it does take some time.
You have to think about it like you have your own little solar system in the galaxy of network marketing, in the universe of making money online. Just think about it.
I suppose that using this metaphor, your blog would be your home planet.
If you haven’t heard me say it yet, here it comes again. There really is no need for you to ever build a website on any other platform than WordPress. It’s a ridiculously easy system, it’s built around all the things that make SEO work, and it’s open source, which means other people are adding plugins to make it work even better all the time.
So get yourself a WordPress blog and host it on your own domain.
That’s step one. Don’t even bother doing anything else until you’ve done that.
If you don’t have a host, check this out. It’s the host I use, they have tons of tools and training and I highly recommend them because they have everything you need to start your business at a lower cost than buying everything separately. And saving money is good.
As far as picking a domain name, most people want to use attraction marketing and use their own name. But you don’t have to. In fact, there are reasons not to. It’s strictly a business decision. For now, let’s just say you use your own name because it’s easier and it makes sense, especially for network marketing.
After you’ve got your domain set up, you’ll want to open accounts on the top 5 social sites. Not the ones like Facebook and Twitter, you’ve already got those. I’m talking about the ones where you build pages based on specific keywords. Sites like Squidoo, Hubpages, WetPaint, etc. I suggest that you do some searching on Google and pick the ones that have the most traffic. Those are the most popular sites, and that’s what you want.
The reason I say to stick with the top 5 is because there’s lots of work involved here. You have to learn all the different systems. You may want to just start with one and work up from there. Squidoo is where I’d start.
Those are the first items on your “to do” list for SEO. This will all tie in to your attraction marketing strategies and make them stronger and more effective.
Here are the steps again:
1. Get yourdomain.com, upload WordPress.org and host it in an account that you own
2. Open accounts in the top 5 social sites
3. Play around in your WordPress dashboard and learn how the system works
4. Learn how to set up pages on your chosen social sites
There’s a lot of stuff to do there, so don’t get overwhelmed. One step at a time, and learn it as you go. Right now you’re just setting up your foundation. Traffic, sales and money will come shortly.
