How ’bout A Kick In The Ass?

Dave's World, Rants

Accountability sucks.

I remember the good ol’ days when life was easy.
I’d write some stuff, study some marketing material, post a video, and
then just watch some TV or something.

Life was good.

Problem is, people started liking my stuff.
They wanted to be friends with me on Facebook and BetterNetworker.
They joined my blog.

Oh, it was cool for a while.
I thought I was making progress.
So I took a break.

I fooled myself into thinking I was working on a “big project” all that time.
Yeah, right.
I was just doing what most people do.
Procrastinating, wasting time, and denying the fact that watching training videos and surfing
Facebook was working on my business.

Then SHE showed up.

Started giving me crap about how she missed my stuff.
Said I motivated her to work on her business and really helped her get going.

Told me how she used my ramblings and marketing tips to help her along.
Then she had the nerve to start telling me to get busy because she NEEDS that from me.

Sunuva…

So here I am again, actually working.
Getting articles done, making videos and posting on my blog.
I’ve started 2 new projects and I’m getting all of my sites redone by a graphics designer.

Gone are the days when I could lay around and be happy about it.

Dang.

I really needed that.

    Hi Dave,

I couldn’t resist posting a comment on this article. A good kick in the pants??? How about a reprint of your article about going “past the point of no return?”

I was thinking about that article on Wednesday. It turns out that my current boss down-sized my schedule after I had requested a 6 week extension. Now there is motivation! I HAVE TO take action within the next 2 weeks to replace or exceed my current income. The point of no return has arrived. The hardest thing in the world to do is “take the first step.” Even with proper training and support, that “first step” is the hardest. You can call it a “kick in the ass” if you want to. Sometimes that is EXACTLY what it takes.

Good to see you again, Chris. I’m sure that article is still on the ol’ blog somewhere. Look around in the archive sections.
Thanks for taking the time to comment. I’m sure others are in the same position and will find motivation and
    inspiration in your words.
