I Hate Passwords And Info Updates

Dave's World, Rants

I do.

I hate ‘em so much it drives me into a blind fury sometimes.
How many times do you have to re-enter the same freakin’ information?!
I even have a program on my computer that stores all of my logins to make sure I don’t forget.

Yet still, every so often, my password is not recognized. Why can’t I just not worry if someone
breaks into my membership in I love dogs or whatever

? It’s not that important.

There are very few people with the computer power, let alone the brainpower to break into
a WordPress blog, let alone a big bank or something.

Oh sure, it happens. But the fact is that it’s far safer to put your information on a computer
on the web than it is to hand a waiter in a restaurant your credit card. That my be hard for
you to wrap your head around, but it’s true.

Well, my advice to you may sound a little bit archaic, but here it is:
Write down all of your passwords in a book.

Seriously.
I don’t know how many times my PA has had to save my ass, because SHE writes everything
in a book FOR me.

Not to mention I had computer problems and had to take it into the shop. Conceivably they
could have gotten into all my stuff because I’ve had all my passwords saved into Firefox.

I’ll sure be glad when they come up with something easier.

And don’t even get me started on captcha…

Dave. I hear you but I’m like your PA. I write all my passwords down in alphabetical order the instant I sign up for something new. It has saved my bacon on at least one huge computer crash occasion.

I’m with you. It’s something so easy to do, but if you don’t do it right when you create an account,
it’ll never get done. My computer went down just a few weeks ago. Luckily I didn’t lose any data,
    but it’s a wake-up call.

P.S. Always get Apple Care for your Macs, etc. I saved over $1500 on repairs, which was almost 10x
the cost of the extended warranty. :)

Hey Dave thanks for that. I thought perhaps I was the only one have a password saver but find it also sucks. Thank heavens I keep them in 2 places now on an excell sheet on my computer and offline on my flash. There is nothing worse than wanting to get some work done and taking 10 mins to find out how to get in. I always save them as sooooon as I have signed up to anything that requires a password. only starting but willing to take the leap. thanks again

I TOO AM SICK TO DEATH OF PASSWORDS. SOME WORK ONCE AND THE NEXT TIME YOU LOG IN ZIP-ZERO IT WON’T WORK. IMPORTANT ONES MAY NEED ONE BUT OTHERS JUST TO CHAT OR ORDER SOMETHING 1 TIME IS INSANE. I KNOW SO MANY PEOPLE THAT GO WITHOUT THINGS AS CANNOT FIGHT WITH THE COMPUTER ANYMORE. IT IS SO UNFAIR TO FORCE EVERYONE INTO A RAGE JUST OVER SOME STUPID PASSWORD FOR SOME SIMPLE UNDERTAKING.
I AM TO THE POINT OF NO RETURN TO MANY PLACES AS AM SICK OF THEM. IT IS IN-EXCUSABLE TO REQUIRE YOU TO RE-DO YOUR PASSWORD EVERY TIME YOU TURN AROUND ALSO AS SOME IDIOT SITE WON’T ACCEPT THE ONE YOU HAVE FOR SOME BIZARRE REASON.
A PERSON SHOULD HAVE 1 PASSWORD AND NO ONE ELSE CAN USE IT ANYWHERE EVER. TO HAVE TO HAVE MORE IS UTTER BUNK.
I KNOW THIS SOUNDS EXTREME BUT FOR A LOT OF PEOPLE OUT THERE WITHOUT A DOCTORATE, THE TIME TO SIT AND PLAY WITH THE COMPUTER, THE PATIENCE TO MESS WITH THE CYBER WORLD, THE YOUNGER AGE DIFFERENTIAL, AND THE UN-COMMON SENSE OF TODAY’S THINKING IT IS TOO MUCH.
I RUN A BUSINESS AND DO ALL THE BOOKS BESIDE AND AM TO BUSY FOR ALL THE (FOR LACK OF A BETTER WORD) BS.

How about just using a thumbprint reader hooked up by usb? Then you’d never forget. I’m sure that’s possible. Maybe too expensive?
