Lots of marketers today have fallen for the myth that email is obsolete. Nothing could be further from the truth. Just because there are many more ways to get people on your email list, doesn’t mean that you should stop emailing. When you think about it, that’s just silly.
The only reason you drive traffic to a page with an opt-in form is to convince them it’s in their best interest to get on your email list. Why? Because they will get more of the information they want from you.
Why do you think you always here marketers crowing “The money is in the list!”
It’s because ultimately, the ability to reach out and touch someone through email is what’s going to produce the most profit for your business.
I know, I know. Facebook is king. Email is dead. Social marketing is where it’s at.
Blah, blah, blah. That’s another load of BS. Just because something is new, doesn’t make it better, and what you really want from all of these things is to connect to more people, right?
Well, what if your prospect isn’t on Facebook every day? I bet they still check their email. Let’s continue to use Facebook as an example, since everyone loves it now.
Your prospect doesn’t necessarily go to Facebook to look for your message. In fact, if they have lots of friends, your message will probably get buried under 100 more messages (from marketers who just KNOW that Facebook will make them rich) before the prospect even sees it.
There goes your connection.
On the other hand, if they have taken the time to opt in to your email list, they are a far better prospect. They’ve taken action to get your stuff. Sweet. Not only that, they’ve given you permission to contact them. In a far more personal way than another borderline spam message on their Facebook wall.
Everyone and their brother will tell you that network marketing is “all about relationships” . OK. Let’s go with that. Which do you think is better? A random BS post on their Facebook wall, or a personal message delivered directly to them from you. It’s not out there for the whole world to see. It’s just between you and your prospect.
For the time they spend reading your email, you have their undivided attention. No distractions, no friends popping up, just the prospect and your message.
Don’t you think that would be a much better way to “build a relationship” with your prospect? Besides, I’d be willing to bet that a lot of the crap that you throw against your “friends” walls are just little blurbs you think will compel them to visit your blog.
Big deal. Do you really think they want to click over to your blog to read the rest of your lame BS? They do not. They want to hear what you have to say RIGHT NOW.
So here’s the best use of your autoresponder.
The Broadcast function.
When you broadcast a message you can send those personal, intimate messages to every person on every list you have. Not spam. Not marketing messages. Not “Please visit my blog to see this” crap, but some real, everyday thoughts and feelings that you have as you’re building your business.
THAT kind of stuff is what will help you connect with your prospects. They will get to know more about you, and they’ll understand that you’ re a lot like they a
re. And people like people that are like them. It makes it easy for them to trust you.
Wait a minute. They will get to know you, then they’ll start to like you. And that will convince them that you’re a real person. Someone they can trust.
Know, Like, Trust.
Isn’t that what everyone says your objective should be?
So broadcast messages to all of your prospects regularly. Contrary to popular belief, every day is not too much, as long as you’ve got something to say.
The autoresponder I recommend is part my hosting package.
